Wide Awakes March convenes

NEW YORK, NEW YORK: OCTOBER 3, 2020, 2020- Participants attend the celebration of the U.S. Civil War era political club, the Wide Awakes that emerged during the election of 1860 to support the campaign of Abraham Lincoln and march in the name of emancipation across the nation. This newly reinvented national march & celebration, convened by Conceptual Visual Artist Hank Willis Thomas and others pulled together a vast amount of Artists across the spectrum interested in challenging the power structure of inequality. Starting at Africa Center, the march proceeded with curated rallying points at Times Square, Washington Square Park, the African Burial Grounds and closing ceremonies at Federal Hall the on October 3, 2020 in New York City.
